The Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State (AE-FUNAI) is a university in Ndufu-Alike, Ikwo, Ebonyi State, Nigeria. 

The Federal Government established the university in 2011 and named it Federal University Ndufu Alike Ikwo.

On February 2, 2018, it renamed the university after former Vice President of Nigeria, Dr. Alex Ekwueme.

Alex Ekwueme University sits on a land area of 438 hectares, and has 10,000 students and 2,230 staff.

The university has 13 Faculties, 50 departments, 58 academic programmes, and a college of Medical Sciences as well as a School of Postgraduate Studies.

The university founded the library in 2012, not long after it was established in 2011.

Alex Ekwueme University School Fees 

For the 2024/2025 academic session, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI) has set its school fees structure as follows:

Freshers (100-level students) must pay ₦50,000 for tuition, plus about ₦43,000 for other compulsory charges like internet services, medicals, student union dues, and faculty levies.

In addition, all newly admitted students must pay an acceptance fee of ₦20,000, while those admitted into Medicine and Law pay a higher acceptance fee of ₦52,000.

The university fixes tuition for returning students at ₦33,000. Returning students also pay around ₦20,000 in additional administrative and departmental charges.

The total is about ₦53,000 per session. 

Students enrolled in professional programs like Medicine, Law, or Engineering may pay slightly more due to higher faculty-specific fees.

Optional hostel accommodation is available at ₦35,000 for male students, ₦40,000 for female students per session.

Applicants must use this site exclusively to apply, third‑party links or forms may be problematic. 

Once on the portal, you register your profile using your JAMB registration number. 

A valid email and phone number, as well as your full name and date of birth, after which you generate a Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) to pay the ₦2,000 screening fee online or at a bank. 

With payment confirmed, you return to the portal to complete the online application form. 

Submit required details, and print out your acknowledgement slip as proof of submission. 

To check your admission status, log into the portal using your JAMB number and password. 

Navigate to “Check Admission Status”, select the academic session, and submit. 

If admitted, you can download your admission letter, pay the acceptance fee, and proceed with registration steps. 

The portal also supports supplementary admission applications for qualified candidates who missed first‑list admission. 

This involves generating a Remita invoice and paying a ₦5,000 fee, completing the form, and printing an acknowledgement slip via the same portal platform. 

During active application periods (e.g., 2025/2026 Post‑UTME/DE screening runs from 18 July to 29 August 2025). 

The portal allows candidates to submit and track their application progress and screening results directly online. 

There is no computer‑based test; screening is by internal review of results only.
